Thursday 27 April - IPL RR vs CSK Preview

27 Apr 2023

The Super Kings are looking to extend their lead at the top of the table!

On Thursday, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium will host a mid-week clash between the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals. The Chennai Super Kings, currently leading the table, will look to extend their lead against the Rajasthan Royals. These two teams have faced each other 27 times, with the Chennai Super Kings winning 15 of those encounters, and the Rajasthan Royals winning 12.

Rajasthan Royals Team Preview

The Rajasthan Royals started off their season with a bang but have recently suffered two back-to-back losses, resulting in conceding their top spot to the Chennai Super Kings. Despite this, the Royals have a strong batting line-up with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler in good form at the top of the order. The middle order consisting of Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmeyer, and Dhruv Jurel is equally strong, with almost every batter contributing to their previous wins.

Although the batsmen struggled to read the pitch at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, the Royals have the potential to bounce back in their upcoming match. The pitch in Jaipur could be different and better for batting, giving the Royals a chance to showcase their skills.

The Rajasthan Royals have been one of the most aggressive teams in IPL 2023, having hit the most sixes and scored the most runs in the powerplay and middle stages of the inning. With world-class spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin, the Royals will be looking to exploit the turn, while Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma take up the seam duties.

Despite their recent losses, the Rajasthan Royals remain one of the strongest teams this season and are likely to make it to the playoffs. They will be eager to put their losses behind them and get back to their winning ways in their next match.

Chennai Super Kings Team Preview

The Chennai Super Kings are on a roll with four consecutive wins, and they will be looking to continue their winning streak in their upcoming match. The team has a strong batting line-up, with three batsmen scoring half-centuries in their previous fixture. Devon Conway has been particularly impressive, scoring half-centuries in each of his last four matches. His opening partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad is expected to give the team a good start.

Ajinkya Rahane has been a solid performer at the number 3 spot, while Shivam Dube, Ambati Rayudu, and MS Dhoni provide depth to the middle order. Rahane has had success at the Jaipur venue in the past, making him one to watch in this match. However, Dube, who is known for his spin-hitting, will have to face the challenge of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Although the Chennai Super Kings' bowling lineup may not be the strongest, they have found a way to get the best out of them under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Tushar Deshpande has been effective in taking wickets with the new ball as well as at the death, but he tends to be expensive. Pathirana and Akash Singh will support him at the other end. Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja are two quality spinners in the team, while Maheesh Theekshana has chipped in with four wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja's emergence as a regular bowler should not be underestimated, as he hardly bowled last season. The Chennai Super Kings have momentum on their side and are expected to put up a strong fight in their upcoming match.

Betting Tips

Both teams have strong batting lineups, making it a tough call. However, since the Rajasthan Royals have already played a match at the venue, they may be better equipped to handle the pitch's pace. Additionally, with the quality of spinners that RR has, along with their batting form, they have the edge over their opponents. So, if you're looking to place a bet, consider betting on the Rajasthan Royals to win.
